Yoga and Wellness with
Katherine Berger

Aside from being an accomplished rider, Katherine Berger is a Yoga Instructor in the Prana Flow style which is an energetic, creative, full-spectrum approach to embodying the flow of yoga cultivated by Shiva Rea. By cultivating inner and outer strength and fluidity through balanced and creative fluid sequences, she teaches students to learn to ride the waves of breath, change and rhythms.


About Katherine Berger
 Katherine Berger is a Trustee of the Berger Collection Educational Trust, whose mission is to promote the scholarship of British Art and to connect kids with art through educational programs. She has worked as a marketing and communications consultant to the U.S. Department of Education on the Teacher to Teacher Initiative. Ms. Berger serves on the Advisory Counsel for the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley. Since 1997 Ms. Berger has served on the Board of the Jane Goodall Institute and is currently on the Executive Committee. She has also served on the boards of the Smithsonian’s Conservation Research Center Foundation, Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado, and the planning committee for the Council on Foundations. Ms. Berger has worked as the Director of Marketing for Berger Funds. She is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a major in classics.

Nourishing for the Christian Life with Integrative Nurse Coach Anne Palmer
"As a registered nurse for thirty years, I have seen first hand how  lifestyle impacts a person's health, happiness and vitality."  
She loves music, yoga and meditation, getting out into nature, whether on foot, in a kayak or canoe or on a bike. Anne has three wonderful grown children. Emily, 28, Hannah 25 and Michael 21.  he lives in Winchester with the most wonderful dog named Bear.

About Anne Palmer, RN, CNM, CHC

Anne has worked in the field of women’s health for fifteen years, first as a registered nurse and then as a midwife. She is a graduate of the Oxford School of Nursing and the York School of Midwifery in England and the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Healthy in Hyden, Anne is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and Certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a holistic health coach. 

Anne is also a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York and has a holistic health and nutrition coaching practice in Winchester, Virginia.

Health and Disaster Preparedness 
with Vestry Member Jeff Harris and Parishioner Caroline McKay 
Potential disasters encompass everything from airway occlusion with food or the cardiac arrest of a loved one to the consequences of enormous storms or home fires to large phenomena like the 5.8 earthquake and tornadoes that Virginia experienced in recent years.  We will provide you with “Make a Plan” materials for your household, discuss proposed workshops on Basic First Aid, CPR, Hunting Home Hazards,  and Putting Out Fires and we will introduce “Ready Christ Church Millwood”, an online database we have developed to help link our families to the church community  and local EMT/Fire department efforts during an emergency.

Global Health Perspectives with Langdon Greenalgh, Global Emergency Group Managing Director 
Langdon Greenhalgh has significant project management and humanitarian consulting experience with a diverse group of governmental, international and non-governmental clients on humanitarian projects related to humanitarian operational design and implementation, evaluations/reviews, strategic planning, disaster risk management systems development, national policy development, and training design/delivery. He is a professional international emergency response manager who has recently served as team leader for the Red Cross and other organizations in a wide range of emergency response operations in the Americas, Africa, Asia and Europe


About Langdon Greenalgh

In addition to his work as a humanitarian consultant, Langdon served within the International Disaster Response Unit of the American Red Cross and was responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-impact emergency services globally. He first joined the Red Cross in 1999 and prior to joining the American Red Cross, Langdon was Executive Director of Horizon Institute for Policy Solutions, a Virginia based think-tank. Langdon completed his undergraduate work in Government and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and received his Masters Degree from Harvard's Kennedy School. 

The Global Emergency Group, which opened for business on Jan. 2, 2008, in Bluemont, Va., offers services in readiness, relief, early recovery, and logistics to help agencies, organizations, governments, and corporations provide humanitarian assistance.

About The Very Rev. Dr. Hilary B. Smith

The Very Rev. Dr. Hilary B. Smith began her ministry at St. Paul's on-the-Hill Episcopal Church in Winchester on September 2, 2003 as Priest-in-Charge. In October of 2005, the vestry voted to call Hilary as rector. Hilary accepted the call and on February 26, 2006 was installed by The Rt. Rev. Peter James Lee, the Bishop of Virginia, as St. Paul's third rector, which position she held through December of 2012.
